This week’s list of applications that we are currently examining (see torftech.com/news) includes three applications for which the control offered by the TORBED processor needs the enhancement of added industrial microwave heat input. This brings the added control of instantaneously adjustable microwave energy to the already highly controlled environment within a TORBED processor. We refer to this as a TORWAVE processor.
Here, our team of engineers has, in tandem with the engineers from the University of Nottingham, created a processor that addresses the traditional difficulties with industrial microwave systems, i.e. inconsistent presentation of material, arcing, dissipation of microwaves in vapour clouds etc.
The TORWAVE processor offers unparalleled control and accuracy. Two of the applications that we are looking at involve drying of fragile material. The third is the roasting of coffee, where the TORWAVE offers a viable all-electric alternative to conventional industrial coffee roasting technologies and produces a superior product.
